Bush lauds Manning,

Colts for showing heart

By Ben Feller Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Even when football season ends, superstar quarterback Peyton Manning is hard to miss on TV. He has become such a marketable pitchman that his commercials — a sports drink here, a credit card company there — seem endless.

Apparently, President Bush has taken notice while flipping the channels.

“So a lot of people here in the White House compound have been really looking forward to seeing Peyton Manning,” Bush said Monday on the South Lawn. “They wanted to see a guy who gets more air time than I do.”

The good-natured poke came as Bush welcomed another championship team to the White House: The Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts beat the Chicago Bears, 29-17, in a pounding rainstorm last February to become Super Bowl champs. On Monday, players basked in the sunshine below the South Portico, as Bush hailed them for ignoring naysayers and playing as a well-balanced team.

As he usually does at these events, Bush played up the theme of perseverance. He liked that the Colts fought through ups and downs.

“Isn’t that what life is about, isn’t it really?” Bush said. “Through the ups — it’s easy to fight hard in the ups. It’s when the downs come that you’ve got to be a fighter.”

The team’s coach, Tony Dungy, became the first black coach to win a Super Bowl. Long one of the most respected figures in the National Football
League, Dungy coped with the suicide of his son, James, in late 2005. Bush alluded to that.

“He is a man who has used his — a position of notoriety to behave in a quiet and strong way in the face of personal tragedy that has influenced a lot of our fellow citizens,” Bush said of Dungy, who stood next to him on stage. “And I want to thank you for your courage.”

The Colts are used to getting showered with attention. More than 93 million people watched the Super Bowl. Yet the team’s players and executives seemed awed to be at the White House, and they didn’t hide it.

Players pulled out personal cameras to get photos with Bush. They did the same with another political star and football fan — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

ACLU vs The State of Indiana

OK, so this one hits close to home. I have these plates on my car (aren't they beautiful by the way?). I've been asking myself how long until the ACLU gets involved, and I guess the answer is after ove a half million plates have been sold, and when it's the number 1 plate sold in the state.

Never mind that "In God We Trust" is the National Motto. Never mind it appears on our currency. Never mind that it is more than obvious that the people of Indiana have spoken by the plate being #1.

None of that matters to the ACLU!

I say thank you to the State of Indiana for doing this to begin with, knowing the ACLU would get bent out of shape. That is what we, the "No Longer Silent Majority" must do and continue to do!!!

Popular 'In God We Trust' plate sparks suit

ACLU says the tag should be treated like specialty plates that cost extra

Mark Studler has nothing against people expressing their religious beliefs, even on their license plates.
Indiana governor's office / Associated Press
But the Allen County man says he also believes those folks should be treated like Hoosiers who use their vehicle tags to promote education or the environment and are charged an extra fee to do so.
Studler and the ACLU of Indiana went to court Monday to challenge a law allowing Hoosier motorists to acquire "In God We Trust" plates at no additional cost.
Backers of the plate that was introduced this year counter that it offers residents a chance to affirm the nation's religious heritage while practicing their right to free speech.

Studler, 49, paid $40 for a plate depicting an eagle and the word "environment." Of that, $25 went to a state trust to buy land set aside for conservation or recreational purposes. The remaining $15 went to the state as an administrative fee.
The $15 fee is not charged for the "In God We Trust" plates.

"I'm into the environment. I wanted to make a statement," Studler said. "And for them to just come out and put out a free plate that's a special plate" seems unfair.

"Everybody should either have to pay the fee or they should all be free," he said.

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles offers dozens of specialty plates, supporting organizations from the Indianapolis Colts to arts groups. The "In God We Trust" plate is the only generally available specialty plate exempt from any fee, said Ken Falk, legal director for the ACLU of Indiana, which filed the suit on Studler's behalf in Marion Superior Court.

"We're not complaining about the message," Falk said. "This isn't about religion."

But Curt Smith, president of the Indiana Family Institute, called the challenge misguided. The phrase "In God We Trust" is the national motto, he said, and appears on U.S. currency.

"We mention God in the Declaration of Independence and in many of our founding documents, and so I think it's very appropriate and legitimate to encourage the dissemination of this phrase."

Rep. Woody Burton, R-Greenwood, led the effort in 2006 that created the plate. He has said that judges are chipping away at the Judeo-Christian foundation of America, and he backed the plate to give like-minded residents the chance to show their concern.

Greg Cook, a spokesman for the BMV, said the agency does not promote the "In God We Trust" plate, which generally is available only through license branches and not through mail-in or Internet renewals. He said the plates cost the agency $3.69 each to produce, compared with $3.19 each for the standard state plate.
Falk said the ACLU has received numerous complaints about the fee exemption, with some calling it a violation of church-and-state separation.

Burton said he's confident the fee exemption will survive legal scrutiny.

"Over half a million of these plates have been (distributed). It's the No. 1 plate in the state," he said.

CP Isn't PC

This article is several days old and is from a newspaper in the UK called the Daily Mail. So please understand that this happened there and not here. My reason for posting is that this is what the Politically Correct crowd can and will do right here in the USA if the now "Un-Silent Minority" doesn't keep up with what has been going on in the last few months, and that is speaking up for what is RIGHT!

Let me say that I am not in favor of discrimination to any group of people, however, given the current climate in the world - I believe that we would be negligent not to profile those people who have made it clear that they want us DEAD.

Teachers drop the Holocaust

to avoid offending Muslims

By LAURA CLARK - More by this author »

Last updated at 11:58am on 2nd April 2007

Schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Governmentbacked study has revealed.

It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.

There is also resistance to tackling the 11th century Crusades - where Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem - because lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques.

The findings have prompted claims that some schools are using history 'as a vehicle for promoting political correctness'.

The study, funded by the Department for Education and Skills, looked into 'emotive and controversial' history teaching in primary and secondary schools.

It found some teachers are dropping courses covering the Holocaust at the earliest opportunity over fears Muslim pupils might express anti-Semitic and anti-Israel reactions in class.

The researchers gave the example of a secondary school in an unnamed northern city, which dropped the Holocaust as a subject for GCSE coursework.

The report said teachers feared confronting 'anti-Semitic sentiment and Holocaust denial among some Muslim pupils'.

It added: "In another department, the Holocaust was taught despite anti-Semitic sentiment among some pupils.

"But the same department deliberately avoided teaching the Crusades at Key Stage 3 (11- to 14-year-olds) because their balanced treatment of the topic would have challenged what was taught in some local mosques."

A third school found itself 'strongly challenged by some Christian parents for their treatment of the Arab-Israeli conflict-and the history of the state of Israel that did not accord with the teachings of their denomination'.

The report concluded: "In particular settings, teachers of history are unwilling to challenge highly contentious or charged versions of history in which pupils are steeped at home, in their community or in a place of worship."

But Chris McGovern, history education adviser to the former Tory government, said: "History is not a vehicle for promoting political correctness. Children must have access to knowledge of these controversial subjects, whether palatable or unpalatable."

The researchers also warned that a lack of subject knowledge among teachers - particularly at primary level - was leading to history being taught in a 'shallow way leading to routine and superficial learning'.

Lessons in difficult topics were too often 'bland, simplistic and unproblematic' and bored pupils.

God Changes Us from the Inside Out

Not always is the material I preach originally produced by myself. I do give the proper credit where credit is due and this sermon outline comes from "The Maxwell Leadership Bible". Praying that your Lord's Day has been blessed!

The Law of Enpowerment:

God Changes Us from the Inside Out

Romans 5:12 - 21

Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ

12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned— 13for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. 14Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.

15But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

18Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

20The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

7 points on how God changes us from the inside out:

1. He Liberates.
He frees us from the chains, stains, and pains of the past.

2. He elevates.
He embraces us and lifts us up to reign with Him.

3. He educates.
He gives us wise counsel and future direction.

4. He compensates.
He fills areas where we are weak or lack competence.

5. He motivates.
He is our source of vision, hope, and purpose.

6. He regenerates.
He transforms us to live on a highr level by His supernatural resources.

7. He activates.
He commissions us to obey and move forward in His cause.

HB London - Why?

I was privileged to hear H.B. London during a Ministerial Convention a few weeks back. A VP with Focus on the Family, Dr. London is called the Pastor's Pastor.

WHY?

by Dr. H. B. London Jr.

I have listened to the "talking heads" make comments regarding the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech. They have laid blame on an ineffective response during the two hours following the first shooting. They have pointed to the liberal Virginia gun laws. They have referenced violent computer games that are readily available to the masses. Some have even suggested that uncontrolled immigration policies might be the cause of so much violence. What was Mr. Cho Seung-Hui's home life like? Did he have any friends? Why didn't the university pick up on his strange life over his years at Virginia Tech? So many questions are being asked and not many answers are forthcoming.

I have heard it conjectured that the shootings were the result of societal ills. Perhaps, but you can't place the cause of this horrific event on society. The truth is it was the result of a very disturbed, lonely and unconnected individual who, for some reason, found satisfaction and relief in doing what he did.

Why does God allow such things, you may be asked. As Dr. Dobson points out, "Why — will have to remain unanswered for the time being. We have been given too few facts to explain all the heartache in an imperfect world" (Why God Why. Tyndale House Publishers, 1993).

Do we believe God is obligated to explain Himself to us? Trying to analyze His omnipotence is like attempting to teach advanced physics to a three-year-old. Dr. Dobson adds, "Unless the Lord chooses to explain Himself to us, which He does not often do, His motivation and purposes are beyond the reach of mortal man."

Why? Our role as clergy is not to construct answers to a complex question. Our role is to comfort people, to point them to life not death, to remind them of the brevity and uncertainty of life and to live each day with purpose and thanksgiving — to prepare them for eternity. That said, my heart breaks for those involved in this human sacrifice. The parents I can only imagine how they feel. The classmates They will never be the same. Many have been killed. Our society has been wounded.

In a few days, your colleagues will be asked to stand before broken-hearted friends and family. They will not have answers, but they will offer hope. They will celebrate life, as we all should. Please pray for them and those they will serve.

"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged" (Deut. 31:8).

Be blessed and be a blessing. —HBL

Bible Reading at the Capital Building!

Bible Reading Marathon to hit nation's capital

Jim Brown
OneNewsNow.com
April 19, 2007

Bible-opened.jpg

The Holy Bible will be read aloud from cover to cover in 90 continuous hours at the U.S. Capitol later this month. The "U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon" kicks off on the last Sunday of April.

Hear This Report

From April 29 - May 3, people from more than 100 different churches will be gathering -- rain or shine -- at the west side of the Capitol to read portions of the Bible around the clock. The Marathon began in 1990, when it was founded by Dr. John Hash. In January of that year, Hash and other Christians had read through the entire Bible while in Jerusalem -- an exercise that prompted them to take the idea to America's capital.

Washington pastor Michael Hall, who is organizing this year's marathon, says participants will not be espousing any particular religion, but just reading God's Word with the knowledge that it will not return void. He shares that critics of the event who argue it violates the supposed "separation of church and state" fail to realize the very freedoms the Bible readers enjoy are a benefit to them as well.

Like those critics, "we also are celebrating our First Amendment rights -- freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion," he states, adding that few nations in the world have such freedoms. The event, he asserts, is an incredible testimony to visitors from around the world.

"We stand on Isaiah 55:11, where we believe God's Word is going forth across the nation," says Hall. "It's a spectacular place to read; we're reading right at the seat of the nation's power. And we believe God's Word transforms anyone who listens to it. We invite people to come and read, to come and listen, to come and pray."

According to Hall, 90 non-English translation Bibles will be available at the event so individuals visiting from around the world will be able to read in their own language.

Alan Keyes Article

This is my 50th post on my Do The RIGHT Thing  blog. The support has been very good, and I had the most hits to date yesterday. The Supreme Court decision obviously got a lot of attention.

Today I am posting a part of an article from Alan Keys, and I will give you the link for the entire article. I love Alan Keyes, and I wish he could be an electable candidate, but that hasn't proven to be the case. If you don't know him, I believe you will find that he thinks Right in line with the Good Guys! I saw him speak once in person and he was outstanding.

The crisis of the republic

April 17, 2007
Alan Keyes

The 2008 presidential election cycle is well under way, hurried along by decisions of more populous states like New York and California to move their primaries to February 5, 2008.

For some time now, I have been receiving emails asking my view of the election and the candidates who are competing for nomination, both Democrats and Republicans. Some people have urged me to get involved as I did in 1996 and 2000. Since I ran against him in Illinois in 2004, some of the media have sought my comments on Barack Obama's campaign and personality.

Frankly though, I don't think it's constructive to discuss candidates and personalities until we have a good sense of what is at stake this time around in the choice the American people will make.

Turning point

For a long time, I have believed that the 2008 election would be a turning point for the survival of the American republic - -i.e., our nation's system of constitutional government based on the sovereignty of the American people and respect for their inalienable rights.

During the past several decades, the trend in American life and politics has been adverse to just about everything needed to sustain American liberty. In our intellectual life, we have embraced theories and concepts that are simply incompatible with the ideas of human equality and inalienable rights that shaped our institutions of self-government. In the moral realm, we have legitimized attitudes and practices incompatible with the self-reliance and self-discipline that make limited government practicable. We have lived with policies on taxation and our economic life that destroy the rights, self-sufficiency, and initiative of the people. We have thoughtlessly adopted - -and allowed our elites to implement - -an understanding of political life that destructively erodes the sovereignty of the people.

The end result is a crisis so pervasive that our preoccupation with its many symptoms and manifestations keeps us from appreciating its overall extent.

Train of abuses

In many ways, the American people are like a monarch whose legitimacy, character, and resources are being systematically eroded by those who mean to replace his rule with their own.

One advisor tells him that the borders are under assault, and that parts of his kingdom must be sold off or surrendered in order to defend them. Another encourages him to kill off members of his family who might challenge him for the throne, while seducing him to waste his time in lustful pursuits with willing partners procured for the purpose. A third assuages his guilt over these crimes and vices by convincing him to abandon the stern morality of his ancestors, and turn from the religion that required it.........

............We must find a voice that can rally us to implement the vision of restored faith, self-discipline, and self-government that alone can save our sovereign constitutional power and America's identity as the land of the free.

Important Breaking (Good) News

I got this important email from Jay Sekulow earlier today. What more can I add other than praises to God!

Dear Ed,

Today we applaud the Supreme Court of the United States for its decision to uphold the national ban on partial-birth abortion and outlaw the gruesome procedure.  The ACLJ filed amicus briefs in both cases before the Supreme Court - including one on behalf of some 80 members of Congress and more than 320,000 Americans.

This is a monumental victory for the preservation of human life.  By rejecting the lawsuits challenging the national ban, the high court demonstrated that this horrible practice has no place in the medical community.  We're delighted and encouraged that a majority of the Justices of the high court determined that it was time to bring an end to what only can be described as infanticide.  This decision represents an important shift in the ongoing battle to protect human life and represents a very significant pro-life victory in the abortion debate.

As a faithful member of the ACLJ, you've helped us be very active in supporting the government's defense of the federal ban, including our
brief in the Nebraska case and the brief in the case out of California.

The 5-4 ruling came in the consolidated cases of Gonzales v. Carhart (05-380) and Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood (05-1382).

You can read the Supreme Court decision
here.

Thanks for your continued support of the ACLJ - today is a monumental victory!

Cassy Said, "Post It!"

Bush Thanks Military Families, Urges Congress

To Pass War Spending Bill!

By Jim Garamone

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, April 16, 2007 - President Bush thanked families of troops serving overseas for their sacrifices and praised organizations that support veterans and military families today at the White House. He also urged Congress to quickly pass an emergency war spending bill so that the troops can get the funding they need to accomplish their mission.

"I appreciate very much to be in the presence of moms and dads, husbands and wives, sons and daughters of some of the finest citizens our nation has ever produced," Bush told military family members in the audience.

The president noted the challenges faced by military families during war.

"A time of war is a time of sacrifice for our nation, but especially for our military families. Being left behind when a loved one goes to war is one of the hardest jobs in our military," Bush said. "The families here today inspire our nation -- inspire them with their sense of duty and with their deep devotion to our country."

Bush also expressed his gratitude to representatives of troop-support organizations in the audience.

"I want to thank the leaders of organizations that support our military families. I appreciate your tireless work to send a clear signal that many in the United States of America support our troops," Bush said. "Each of you knows what is stake -- what is at stake in this war on terror. And I appreciate your efforts to rally our nation to support our troops, and to support the mission for which they have risked and, in some cases, have given their lives."

Bush said the troops must be given "the tools and resources they need to prevail," and he is looking forward to meeting with members of Congress April 18 to iron out differences between the administration and Congress.

The disagreement is over the fiscal 2007 Emergency Supplemental Request. The $93.4 billion request will fund operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and other operations in the war on terror. Both the Senate and House versions of the supplemental have a timetable for the exit of U.S. troops from Iraq. President Bush said he will not sign any legislation with a withdrawal date.

"I think it is wrong for Congress to restrict our military commanders," Bush said. "I can understand having a difference of opinion about Iraq, but our commanders need the flexibility necessary to meet the mission. We should not be substituting political judgment for the judgment of those in our military."

Bush said honest differences over the best course in Iraq should be debated. "That's healthy," he said. "That's normal. ... But our troops should not be caught in the middle."

Bush said failure to fund the supplemental quickly will impact military readiness, and that "will mean that the readiness of our forces will suffer. This is unacceptable to me; it's unacceptable to you, and it's unacceptable to the vast majority of the American people."

The U.S. must provide its troops with the support they need to accomplish their mission, Bush said.

"We owe it to every sailor, soldier, airman, Marine in harm's way to give them the tools they need to prevail," Bush said. "That's what we owe them."

The president said he is open to trying to settle political differences in order to provide the military with the funding it needs.

"I am willing to discuss any way forward that does not hamstring our troops, set an artificial timetable for withdrawal and spend billions on projects not related to the war," he said.

Bush said the American people expect the White House and Congress to work together.

"Congress needs to put the partisanship on hold; it needs to get rid of all the politics right now and send me an emergency war spending bill that I can sign that gets our troops the support they need and gives our commanders the flexibility they need to complete this mission," he said.

Who Am I?

Who Am I?

After about 45 or so posts on here I wanted to share a little bit about myself and why I choose to blog, and what my thinking is on the things that I choose to post. I know there are many people who come here and check out Do the RIGHT Thing, and I want to make sure that you know who it is on this side of the blog.

You all know me as Pastor Ed or Cyber Pastor. I have been married to my dear wife for almost 26 years, and to keep you from guessing on the math, we are both 44 years old.

We have three children:
Our son is 24 and lives several hundred miles from us, and we miss him greatly. He is a junior in college and works full-time as a loan manager
.
Our oldest daughter is 22 and she lives with us along with her husband of 1 year and our first grandbaby (the cutest little girl in the whole world). Grandson #1 is due in a month.
Our youngest daughter is 16 (I'm sure she would say almost 17) and she is a sophomore in high school. Due to some medical concerns we home school her, which is new for the entire family.

I am the pastor of a small Wesleyan Church in the Midwest, and I also serve as a Chaplain at a satalite branch of a Wesleyan University. I volunteer on many different levels, but the one I have the most passion for is as Ambassador for the Presidential Prayer Team. This is a non-profit, non-partisan organization who strives to pray daily for our President, our national leaders, and for our troops. I have taken a pledge to do these things for these leaders no matter what political party they represent.

This would probably be a good time to put in this disclaimer. The views expressed on this blog are those of Pastor Ed and Pastor Ed only. The are not endorsed or meant to indirectly indicate any views of the Wesleyan Church, IWU, or the Presidential Prayer Team. This is my personal blog, with my own persoanl views and opinions.

Many people may think that with me being a minister, that this is a religious blog. While my spiritual views will be clear (at least I hope so), I did not want to just start another "Christian Blog". However I do post my Sunday Morning Sermon Outline as my Sunday post.

My real reason for starting my blog is to be a voice and an encourager of those who have previously been a part of the Silent Majority or who haven't yet decided to come out of their there shell yet. Secondarily, I feel that the only way to get the Conservative message out to the masses is to take charge of it ourselves, and get the job done. We know that the press is overwhelmingly liberal to the point of ignoring the truth many times to get their liberal agenda to all who will listen.

As I am being open here, I am a Republican. However, I have never pulled the straight party ballot - ever. I believe that it is the person that makes the candidate and not the party. I have voted for Democrats and Independents in the past. That is rare but that's the way I do it.

That said, I think it must be said that Republicans need to start acting like the Conservatives that they represent. There is no place for RINO's (Republican In Name Only) in the party. They may be more dangerous than liberals. We know what to expect from liberals, RINO's are loose cannons.

I know there is a diverse crowd that visits here. Many who are here because they know my Christian views, and many others who are here to "sound off" on political issues. As is normally the case, those who are here for mainly a Christian perspective are the quiet ones, and the ones with strong political views are the ones who make the most comments and sometimes may say things that shock others. That's all ok in my eyes. You don't find profanity or that sort, and as for the ones with strong political views, most if not all happen to be Christians who think that the Silent Majority, can be silent no longer.

I would love to see more people make comments or send me emails on the topics here. Also, I am going to be emailing several people about making "guest posts" here, but if you have something you would like to contribute, you can email it to me at edboston80@hotail.com. I am not promising to post everything, but I am pretty much open to most things that I would get from the group attending. Also, if you like what you see here, let people know!

No Conspiracy Theory!

No Conspiracy Theory!

I.                   The Conspiracy Prepared in Advance

    (Matthew 27: 62 – 66)

The Guard at the Tomb

62The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63"Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' 64So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."

65"Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how." 66So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

II.                The Conspiracy Put into Motion

(Mathew 28: 11 – 15)

The Guards' Report

11While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.' 14If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." 15So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

III.             The Conspiracy Debunked

(Matthew 28: 16 – 20)

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Modern Day Conspiracies

1.     They Found the Bones of Jesus

(Luke 24: 1 – 12)

Luke 24

The Resurrection

1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " 8Then they remembered his words.

9When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. 11But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. 12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.

Eyewitness accounts say: The tomb was empty. Empty tomb = no bones to be found!

2.     9-11 was an Inside Job by our Government

A well know celebrity says the following:

I do believe that for the first time in history, that fire has ever melted steel. I do believe that it defies physics for the World Trade Center Tower 7, Building 7, which collapsed in on itself, it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved. World Trade Center 7. World Trader 1 and 2 got hit by planes, 7 miraculously, for the first time in history steel was melted by fire. It is physically impossible.

HH: What do you make of that, Mayor?

RG: I just never thought of her as like an engineering expert, but you’d have to go back to the people who studied that.

Not one witness who says they were a part of any 9-11 conspiracy.

Summary: Conspiracies need more than accusations to be real, so check the facts. We looked at three conspiracy theories here today. One from the 1st Century and two from the 21st Century.

1.     Conspiracy – Jesus’ body was removed by the disciples.

Facts – The guards were paid off to keep the real story quiet.

2.     Conspiracy – The bones of Jesus were found.

Facts – The women and Peter all found an empty grave.

3.     Conspiracy -  9-11 was orchestrated by our own government.

Facts – No one has admitted to being a part of a government plot to attack our own country.

The main story is that the grave was empty – and that is no Conspiracy, it’s the facts!

Rosie and Her Foot in Mouth Condition

Let me start this off with some positive comments on Rosie. When she had her talk show, she did lots of nice things for people. Gave lots of prizes and when she stayed away from politics she wasn't too bad and I even enjoyed most of her shows that I saw.

She was a co-star in the movie "A League of Their Own", and that ranks right up in my Top Ten movies. Loved her part in the movie.

However, when it comes to politics and her having free reign to say anything she wants at any time on her show with no one who will stand up to her - I say enough is enough. It's time for her to go from "The View" (actually The View can totally go in my opinion). People flock to Rosie because of her fame, and then she continuously feeds them with liberal garbage, time after time after time.

 HH is Hugh Hewitt

RG is Rudy G

HH: Let me play for you a little Rosie O’Donnell on 9/11 looking back.

RG: (laughing)

HH: Have you heard this clip yet, Mayor? Have you heard her talking…

RG: I don’t know.

HH: Let’s play Rosie O’Donnell from a couple of weeks ago.

RO’D: I do believe that for the first time in history, that fire has ever melted steel. I do believe that it defies physics for the World Trade Center Tower 7, Building 7, which collapsed in on itself, it is impossible for a building to fall the way it fell without explosives being involved. World Trade Center 7. World Trader 1 and 2 got hit by planes, 7 miraculously, the first time in history steel was melted by fire. It is physically impossible.

HH: What do you make of that, Mayor?

RG: I just never thought of her as like an engineering expert, but you’d have to go back to the people who studied that. And World Trade Center 7, if I recall correctly, came down around 4 or 5 o’clock in the afternoon. And my partner, Mike Hess, who was then my Corporation Counsel, was one of the last two people to get out of World Trade Center 7. He almost died there. And I was in a building that was pelted by…what really happened is World Trade Center 1 and 2 bombarded World Trade Center 7. And I was in a building next to World Trade Center 7, and we were trapped in that building for 20 minutes, and that building took a considerable amount of building.

HH: But what do you make of public people…

RG: It was a little further away, so…

HH: What do you make of public people firing up this nutter conspiracy theory? Does that injure our understanding of what we’re in?

RG: Well, I’ve always thought that conspiracy theories, and I’ve heard all the wild ones, you know, I’ve been subjected sometimes overseas, sometimes here, you know, kind of really wild ones. I won’t even repeat them, they’re so wild. I’ve always been very clear on September 11, and I don’t know why we have to have conspiracy theories, when we know who did it. (laughing) You know, we know that these 19 people took those airplanes and flew them into buildings in order to kill innocent people. They’re the ones responsible for it. None of this would have happened unless they did that. Everybody else, you know, everybody else involved, and it was doing the very best they could to save as many lives as possible. Some did it effectively, some didn’t do it as effectively, but they were all trying, you know? This idea of going back and trying to figure out what did the Bush administration know, what did the Clinton administration know in order to blame people is really unfortunate. If either anybody in the Bush administration or the Clinton administration had known about September 11, I think they would have done everything they could to stop it. What we do is, we just…when we do that, we displace the responsibility where it belongs.

HH: Yeah.

RG: It’s squarely in one place. It belongs with the Islamic terrorists who planned it over a long period of time, and carried it out. And everybody else, everybody else tried real hard to do the best they could to save lives. And as I said, some were successful and some weren’t, and some of the decisions were right and some were wrong, but the criminal, horrible, inhumane decision was the one made by those terrorists.

HH: Mayor, I know we’re out of time. We’ll pick it up there next time. Thanks for the opportunity again.

RG: Thank you very much.

End of interview.

“Blessed July” and Saddam's Role

First, let me say that this article comes from May of 2006, and many of you who read both my blog and Snooper's blog http://takeourcountryback.townhall.com/ will be getting this information more than once.

To me though, this is exactly what we who are part of the "former Silent Majority" (that's not cheating for those who remember a very old post), must do. Get the word out about things that the media will keep from us. If we don't do it then who will??

Media mum on new evidence of Saddam's terror ties

By Joel Mowbray
Wednesday, May 10, 2006

Ask even news-savvy Americans what they know about Saddam’s plans to deploy suicide bombers against the West, and the most common response will be blank stares. Ditto for asking about how Saddam’s thugs trained thousands of terrorists from around the Arab world, right up through 2002.

Both stunning revelations surfaced recently, one in Congressional testimony last month and the other in the current issue of Foreign Affairs magazine. The Pentagon has known about these items on Saddam’s terrorist agenda since the end of 2003, which is when it received the after-action analysis report it had commissioned. (It served as the basis for the testimony and the magazine article.)

Now declassified, the book-length report analyzed thousands of Iraqi documents and interviews with over 100 officials of Saddam’s regime to piece together what was going on in the tyranny’s final days. Much of it is darkly humorous, such as the lengths to which minions would go to deceive Saddam or how the despot actually appeared to believe the ridiculous propaganda spewed by Baghdad Bob.

To the extent the report or its summaries were covered by the mainstream media, attention mostly was focused on the finding that Saddam apparently behaved himself in late 2002 and early 2003 in a vain attempt to stave off the invasion. Yet entirely ignored by the supposedly objective news outlets were the rather newsworthy items indicating that, in fact, Saddam was interested in exporting terror.

According to a Nexis search, only four news outlets have even mentioned “Blessed July,” which was, in the words of the Foreign Affairs article, “a regime-directed wave of ‘martyrdom’ operations against targets in the West.” All nine articles were editorials or opinion pieces. The New York Times essentially avoided covering the report or the magazine summary of it, as the paper instead excerpted a book co-authored by one of its reporters that relied heavily on the report. Even the Associated Press declined to print a quick mention that preparations for “Blessed July,” again quoting from the magazine article, “were well under way at the time of the coalition invasion.”

The Washington Post, however, did cover the release of the Foreign Affairs article, but with this headline: “U.S. Said To Misread Hussein On Arms.” The not-so-subtle implication of the rather brief story was that Saddam didn’t pose as big a threat as we thought. In the weeks following the Post article, the full report was released and its authors appeared before Congress. Neither event triggered additional coverage.

Even if Post reporters missed the section in the 230-page report on terror training camps operated by the Fedayeen Saddam, the militia of soldiers most loyal to the ruthless ruler, that issue was raised again in Congressional hearings last month. The camps, which were started in 1994, trained some 7,200 Iraqis in the art of terrorism in the first year alone. “Beginning in 1998,” according to the full report, “these camps began hosting ‘Arab volunteers from Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, ‘the Gulf,’ and Syria.’”

So in the late 1990’s and beyond, during which time conventional wisdom tells us that Saddam was “contained,” Iraq was training thousands of terrorists from across the Arab world. Saddam was not slowing down. “The training activity of the groups were increasing both internal and apparently external. It was increasing over time,” testified Lt. Col. Kevin Woods (retired), the report’s chief author.

Many Democrats, leading leftists, and even ostensibly objective members of the Fourth Estate scoff at Bush’s contention that the war in Iraq was a necessary component of the war on terror. Yet when fairly compelling proof emerges that Saddam was actively involved in both training terrorists and planning attacks, the collective response was silence.

Most baffling, though, is that the White House has been equally silent.

Had President Bush made even one mention of “Blessed July,” Saddam’s plans for a “wave of ‘martyrdom’ operations” would have dominated cable newscasts and newspaper headlines for at least a day. Maybe not dominated, but it would have garnered at least some attention.

Had the White House press office decided that the mainstream media couldn’t be trusted to disseminate the information accurately, it could have at least highlighted Saddam’s terror training camps for friendly columnists, talk hosts, and bloggers. It didn’t.

The White House doesn’t believe in re-fighting the decision to go to war, which is painfully logical. But politics isn’t logical. Neither are Bush’s political enemies. If the President wants people to trust that he made the right call by toppling Saddam, he needs to reiterate everyday what we know: Saddam was a threat who could no longer be tolerated.

“Blessed July” and Saddam’s terror training camps would be as good a place as any to start.

They Voted for Life

I know there are people who are passionately for this position, but there are ethical methods, using adult stem cell research and even more that I'm sure I am not aware of.

Looks like the President is going to have to keep the "Veto
Pen" busy!

Here are the links to the full story and to the Senate Vote:

The 34 Brave Lawmakers Who Voted for Life

These men and women were willing to take a risk.

When the U.S. Senate voted Wednesday to lift the president's restrictions on embryonic stem-cell research, it failed to reach the number of votes necessary to overturn a promised Bush veto. That’s because 34 Senators resisted a bipartisan tide and said “No” to the destruction of preborn humans.

Carrie Gordon Earll, senior analyst for bioethics for Focus on the Family Action, said pro-life senators who stood their ground will be criticized in some circles because of it.

“Some of these senators have watched as the composition of the Senate has shifted away from a majority of members holding a pro-life view on issues like this,” she said. “It's hard to be in the minority; you stand strong and cast controversial votes knowing that you will probably lose.”
