Plugs

I meant to plug a couple of items in my post today, but decided to go ahead with a separate post to do so.

1) Today's post came from OneNewsNow.com or
http://www.onenewsnow.com/

Your Latest News from a Christian perspective

Whether it's a story about prayer in public schools, workplace restrictions on Christians or battles for biblical truth within our denominations, the American Family News Network (AFN) is here to tell you what the newsmakers are saying.

AFN is a national Christian news service that exists to present the day's news from a Christian perspective. We not only feature the latest breaking stories from across the United States and around the world, but also news of the challenges facing Christians in today's society.

At OneNewsNow.com, you will get your news from reporters you can trust to give the latest news without the liberal bias that characterizes so much of the "mainstream" media.

2) I also want to plug my good friend "Snooper's" blog site: Take Our Country Back at
http://takeourcountryback.townhall.com/ . He is a military veteran (a "spook" for those who can relate to that), and his views are tough and to the point. To say he is passionate about our country would be the biggest understatement I've made lately! Be prepared, he will call liberals "trolls" and "moonbats". He has no patience for those who don't believe in Christian Conservative ideals. He tells it like it is and with some recent developments in his life, his career as a blogger may be moving on to the national scene. I'm proud to call him my friend and my Christian Brother!

We Had Better Wake Up

For those who think that America will never be a battleground again, I hope that this bit of news will wake you up a little.

And for those who think "Pastor, you need to be a little more tolerant", I would remind you that when God sent Joshua and the Israelites into the "Promised Land" - He did so with the instructions to totally wipe out and remove those who were currently residing in this land promised to the descendants of Abraham. Let me remind you that Jesus was not tolerant when He gave the ONLY way to the Father was through His Son Jesus! (That means Mohammed is not in that picture at all).

If we continue to be "blind" and "silent" let me remind you what happened when the Israelites didn't follow through with God's intructions above - CAPTIVITY!

Muslim paramilitary compounds springing up around America

Terrorists.jpg

A U.S. defense analyst and author says Americans should be very concerned about some radical Muslim paramilitary compounds that have sprung up around the country and that are surrounded with "No Trespassing" signs.

Greg Copley, president of the International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA), says the compounds are often populated with former U.S. convicts who were converted to Islam in prison. These convicts, he contends, are connected to a Pakistani organization.

"Islamberg in New York, Ahmedabad in Virginia, and Holy Islamville in South Carolina, and so on are places which have been formed largely by Jamaat ul-Fuqra," Copley notes, "which is a fundamentalist jihadist movement, which has been involved in terrorist activity and supporting terrorist activity."

The U.S. government has been monitoring the organization's activities, the ISSA official says. "The U.S. government, for example, claimed that ul-Fuqra members were involved in more than a dozen bombings and arson attacks during the 1980s and 1990s," he points out, and that members were "possibly responsible for a couple dozen homicides, and possibly linked to the murder of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was killed in Pakistan."

Jamaat ul-Fuqra, which means "community of the impoverished," recruits converts from the U.S. prison system, the defense analyst says. "They're a very big international group," he asserts. "They do have connections to fundamentalist groups in Pakistan."

There is also evidence that ul-Fuqra may have been linked to shoe-bomber Richard Reid, Copley adds. He says he believes U.S. authorities should thoroughly investigate and keep a watch on the activities of these Muslim compounds that are located in America but connected to a Pakistani jihadist movement.

Sunday Sermon

This is the first sermon of a series entitled "In The Beginning". In the scripture verses I have underlined where you can see in God's Word the answers to the 5 questions that make up the 5 points for this sermon.

It Was Very Good!
Genesis 1: 26 - 31

26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, in Our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

  1. I. Who Created the Earth? – God (The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit). Notice the use of the words Us and Our.
  2. II. How Was the Earth Created? – God spoke.

  1. III. For Whom Was the Earth Created? – For us.

A construction crew was building a new road through a rural area, knocking down trees as it progressed. A superintendent noticed that one tree had a nest of birds who couldn't yet fly and he marked the tree so that it would not be cut down. Several weeks later the superintendent came back to the tree. He got into a bucket truck and was lifted up so that he could peer into the nest. The fledglings were gone. They had obviously learned to fly. The superintendent ordered the tree cut down. As the tree crashed to the ground, the nest fell clear and some of the material that the birds had gathered to make the nest was scattered about. Part of it was a scrap torn from a Sunday school pamphlet. On the scrap of paper were these words: He careth for you.

Bits & Pieces, November, 1989, p. 23.

  1. IV. How was it when it was Created? It was Very Good!

I have observed the power of the watermelon seed. It has the power of drawing from the ground and through itself 200,000 times its weight. When you can tell me how it takes this material and out of it colors an outside surface beyond the imitation of art, and then forms inside of it a white rind and within that again a red heart, thickly inlaid with black seeds, each one of which in turn is capable of drawing through itself 200,000 times its weight--when you can explain to me the mystery of a watermelon, you can ask me to explain the mystery of God.

William Jennings Bryan.

  1. V. Who is responsible for the earth now? We are.

Protecting Their Memory!

I certainly rejoice when states take the "bull by the horns" and put stops to things that are done in the name of "freedom of speech". This makes me want to cough something up and spit!!!!!

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere due to not being around much and spending much of my time at the hospital with Caeden and his mommy! They should be home in the morning!!!!

I was going to remove the web address for this jerk, but I hope he gets lots of complaints so I deceded to leave it.

States crack down on soldier T-shirts

PHOENIX - Incensed by the sale of anti-war T-shirts and other paraphernalia emblazoned with the names and pictures of America's military dead, some states are outlawing the commercial use of the fallen without the permission of their families.

Despite serious questions of constitutionality, Oklahoma and Louisiana enacted such laws last year, and the governors of Texas and Florida have legislation waiting on their desks. Arizona lawmakers are on the verge of approving a similar measure.

"You should have some rights to your own name and your own legacy, particularly if you're a deceased veteran," said state Sen. Jim Waring, a Republican who sponsored the Arizona bill. "Celebrities have that. Why shouldn't our soldiers have that?"

The bills were prompted largely by pleas from military families upset that their loved ones' names and photos were being used on phone cards, body armor and other products.

In many cases, the target of their ire is Dan Frazier, a Flagstaff man who sells T-shirts online that list the names of 3,155 U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq.

The shirts bear slogans such as "Bush Lied — They Died" and "Support Our Remaining Troops — Bring the Rest Home Alive."

Margy Bons, a Phoenix-area woman whose Marine reservist son, Sgt. Michael A. Marzano, was killed by an insurgent bomb in Iraq in 2005, said he believed in his mission.

"My son was not duped into going to war," she said. "I'm angry that somebody can use somebody else's name for their political beliefs without permission."

Frazier, 41, said he will not retreat. "I'm providing a valuable service to people to help show the enormity of the cost of war," he said.

Under the Arizona bill, violators could get up to six months in jail and fines of $2,500 for an individual and $20,000 for an enterprise. A spokeswoman for Gov. Janet Napolitano declined to say whether she would sign the bill if it reached her desk.

The Florida bill would impose a $1,000 penalty per violation for using a military member's name or photo commercially without permission.

Law enforcement officials in Oklahoma and Louisiana said they were unaware of any prosecutions under their laws. But the Arizona legislation also authorizes families to sue, and Bons said she will see Frazier in court.

Frazier said he has sold a couple of thousand shirts through his Web site, http://www.carryabigsticker.com, since 2005 and regards it as more of a political statement than a moneymaker. He said the shirts, which sell for $20 to $22, are expensive to produce.

Frazier said the various state bills and laws infringe on his First Amendment rights to free speech.

Waring said Frazier is selling a commercial product, and that opens the door to state regulation.

"This is clearly commercial speech. He's not giving the shirts away," Waring said. "I don't dispute that if he was giving the shirts away to make a political statement, we probably couldn't do anything about that."

However, a constitutional law expert said the fact that the dead soldiers' names are public record and that the Arizona legislation grants exceptions for plays, articles and certain other uses could undermine its constitutionality.

"You can't make some irrational distinctions and stop some people and not others without a really good reason," said Paul Bender, an Arizona State University professor and a top Justice Department official in the Clinton administration.

Bender said the shirts are clearly a political statement: "He's not advertising anything on the T-shirts."

Papaw, Why Do You Blog???

Caeden: Hi papaw, today is my first day in this big thing that I hear people call planet earth. I sure am glad to be here.

Papaw: And big is what you are too, my dear grandson. 9 lbs. 11 oz. and 21 inches long. You are a big boy, and I am so proud of you!

Caeden: Let's get right to what I want to know Papaw. Every day my mommy reads this thing called DoTheRIGHTThing on something she calls a blog. She is always saying "look at what Dad wrote today". That's you isn't it Papaw???

Papaw: Yes, my blonde haired, blue eyed baby boy, that is me that your mommy talks about.

Caeden: What is such a big deal about a blog and what makes you do it every day?

Papaw: Well grandson, since you asked, a blog is one of the best ways we people called Conservatives have to get our message out to people who believe like we do. I do it every day because I love you!!!

Caeden: Well, I already know you love me Papaw, so why do you need to do this "blog" thing. Aren't you a preacher and isn't that good enough???

Papaw: Yes, Caeden, I am a preacher and I love working for the Lord. I consider blogging an extension of my work as a preacher. You see when they wrote the Bible, the writers talked a lot about something called "false teachers". That is what I consider people who teach people to hate, tell lies about our country, and take every chance to put down those of us who call ourselves Christians.

I said I do it because I love you and I want our great nation to remain a Godly country and so that you can grow up in the same great country that I did.

Caeden: Papaw?????? Is it mean to call someone a troll?

Papaw: Well, here is what I think about that. Troll is a term that my friends and I use to refer to those people I described before. Jesus used terms like "den of vipers" and such for those who didn't follow his teaching. So yes it is a negative term, but those people need to be exposed for who they are.

Caeden: Mommy read something about the "Silent Majority". What's that????

Papaw: Glad you asked that question. For many, many years Christians and Conservatives sit quietly by while the Liberals started taking God out of our country. They don't allow school prayer, the want the 10 Commandments removed from public display, and one of the worst things is that abortions are allowed to kill new babies like you by the thousands. Those who are in the majority are like your papaw, but we can't stay silent any more!

Caeden: You mean that some people think it's ok to kill little babies like me?? That don't seem fair.

Papaw: Now Caeden, you can see why it is so important for Papaw and his friends to do what we do. First of all we love God, we love our families, and we love this great country called the United States of America.

Caeden: Ok, last question "will there be a "Gathering of Eagles" when I grow up????

Papaw: Well my dear precious grandson, I hope there is, but not because we need to, but because we want to -- to keep the message of God, family, and country going on forever!!

Sleep well on your first night, and know that I love you with all my heart!

PPT President John Lind to be interviewed on TBN

Scottsdale, AZ – Presidential Prayer Team President/CEO John Lind will appear on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) later this month to introduce viewers to PPT and its Adopt Our Troops program.

“I look forward to sharing with the TBN audience the powerful work the Presidential Prayer Team is doing through prayer, especially through our Adopt Our Troops initiative,” Lind said. “Over 166,000 troops are being prayed for by name by over 500,000 folks who have adopted these troops. We have seen God work in miraculous ways through those who are obedient in their call to pray daily for our Armed Forces.”

The program, the Dallas, TX-area Praise the Lord segment for KDTX-TV 58, will have a patriotic theme and will be hosted by Pastor Richard Hoag. In addition to talking about PPT during the 20-minute interview, Lind will also pray for the nation’s military. The show, taped at TBN’s Dallas studios, is scheduled to air nationally and internationally on the following schedule:

  • May 23 – 9:00-11:00am Central Daylight Time
  • May 24 – 1:00-3:00am Central Daylight Time
  • May 24 – 4:00-6:00pm Central Daylight Time

Through PPT’s Adopt Our Troops outreach, anyone can register a member of the military they know and love so he or she can be prayed for by someone else. They can also post an update on that person anytime they’d like. People are also given the option to commit to pray for a member of the military randomly selected for them from PPT’s adoption files, or pray for a specific person of their choosing.

Through the Internet at adoptourtroops.org, people are able to stay informed on each troop they’ve committed to pray for, and see at any given time how many troops are being prayed for, and how many are awaiting adoption in prayer. They are also given access to troop profiles and selected prayer resources.

PPT is a non-profit, non-partisan prayer ministry dedicated to informing and encouraging people to pray daily for our President, our leaders, our nation and our Armed Forces. Membership is free and open to anyone who is willing to commit to pray each day. Participants receive free weekly email prayer updates, access to prayer resources on the Internet, and a membership decal. A Man of God!

I wanted to give tribute to this true man of God. I was never really a fan of some of his methods, and sometimes I wish he would have expressed himself in a different manner. That said, I believe he deserves the respect of man who dedicated his life to the cause of Christ and then to the service of our country.

Jerry Falwell dead at age 73

Sue Lindsey - Associated Press Writer
OneNewsNow.com
May 15, 2007

Jerry Falwell

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Rev. Jerry Falwell, who founded the Moral Majority and built the religious right into a political force, died Tuesday shortly after being found unconscious in his office at Liberty University, a school executive said. He was 73.

Ron Godwin, the university's executive vice president, said Falwell, 73, was found unresponsive around 10:45 a.m. and taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. "CPR efforts were unsuccessful," he said.

Godwin said he was not sure what caused the collapse, but he said Falwell "has a history of heart challenges."

"I had breakfast with him, and he was fine at breakfast," Godwin said. "He went to his office, I went to mine, and they found him unresponsive."

Falwell had survived two serious health scares in early 2005. He was hospitalized for two weeks with what was described as a viral infection, then was hospitalized again a few weeks later after going into respiratory arrest. Later that year, doctors found a 70 percent blockage in an artery, which they opened with stents.

Falwell credited his Moral Majority with getting millions of conservative voters registered, electing Ronald Reagan and giving Republicans Senate control in 1980.

"I shudder to think where the country would be right now if the religious right had not evolved," Falwell said when he stepped down as Moral Majority president in 1987.

The fundamentalist church that Falwell started in an abandoned bottling plant in 1956 grew into a religious empire that includes the 22,000-member Thomas Road Baptist Church, the "Old Time Gospel Hour" carried on television stations around the country and 7,700-student Liberty University. He built Christian elementary schools, homes for unwed mothers and a home for alcoholics.

He also founded Liberty University in Lynchburg, which began as Lynchburg Baptist College in 1971.

Liberty University's commencement is scheduled for Saturday, with former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich as the featured speaker.

In 2006, Falwell marked the 50th anniversary of his church and spoke out on stem cell research, saying he sympathized with people with medical problems, but that any medical research must pass a three-part test: "Is it ethically correct? Is it biblically correct? Is it morally correct?"

Falwell had once opposed mixing preaching with politics, but he changed his view and in 1979, founded the Moral Majority. The political lobbying organization grew to 6.5 million members and raised $69 million as it supported conservative politicians and campaigned against abortion, homosexuality, pornography and bans on school prayer.

Falwell became the face of the religious right, appearing on national magazine covers and on television talk shows. In 1983, U.S. News & World Report named him one of 25 most influential people in America.

In 1984, he sued Hustler magazine for $45 million, charging that he was libeled by an ad parody depicting him as an incestuous drunkard. A federal jury found the fake ad did not libel him, but awarded him $200,000 for emotional distress. That verdict was overturned, however, in a landmark 1988 U.S. Supreme Court decision that held that even pornographic spoofs about a public figure enjoy First Amendment protection.

The case was depicted in the 1996 movie "The People v. Larry Flynt."

With Falwell's high profile came frequent criticism, even from fellow ministers. The Rev. Billy Graham once rebuked him for political sermonizing on "non-moral issues."

Falwell quit the Moral Majority in 1987, saying he was tired of being "a lightning rod" and wanted to devote his time to his ministry and Liberty University. But he remained outspoken and continued to draw criticism for his remarks.

Falwell was re-energized after moral values issues proved important in the 2004 presidential election. He formed the Faith and Values Coalition as the "21st Century resurrection of the Moral Majority," to seek anti-abortion judges, a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and more conservative elected officials.

The big, blue-eyed preacher with a booming voice started his independent Baptist church with 35 members. From his living room, he began broadcasting his message of salvation and raising the donations that helped his ministry grow.

"He was one of the first to come up with ways to use television to expand his ministry," said Robert Alley, a retired University of Richmond religion professor who studied and criticized Falwell's career.

They Want Us Quiet!

Here is another example of how far they are willing to go to keep our side quiet!

House Set to Take Up

Grassroots-Lobbying Legislation

by Jennifer Mesko, associate editor

‘The harder they try to silence us, the more convinced we should become that we must speak out.’

The U.S. House of Representatives soon could see a bill that would be like “putting a piece of duct tape over” the mouths of pro-family organizations, including Focus on the Family Action.

Language that may be added to the lobbying reform effort would bury organizations like Focus in needless paperwork and burdensome reporting requirements any time it communicates to constituents concerning public policy issues that are before Congress, all under the threat of severe fines and criminal penalties.

In a special online edition of the Focus on the Family broadcast, Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, urged Americans to get involved.

“We faced this battle in the Senate right after the first of the year. Well, it’s back,” he said. “We’re not opposed to reforming the lobby process. The problem we have is the bill as it pertains to grassroots lobbying. They are going to attempt to amend the present bill … to add grassroots into it.

“This affects average citizens who would make a phone call to their legislator. This is far-reaching legislation. It runs counter to … free speech,” he said. “The harder they try to silence us, the more convinced we should become that we must speak out.”

The grassroots language was pulled from the Senate bill in January after a public outcry. It’s time for a repeat performance, said Carrie Gordon Earll, senior director of issues analysis for Focus on the Family Action.

“We’ve just got to do it again, we’ve got to repeat the same performance, and to demonstrate that we are not going to be silenced,” she said. Kind of like "putting a piece of duct tape over our mouth.

“The bottom line is that the Gospel and the promotion of biblical values in this country is going to be damaged.”

Dr. Bill Maier, vice president and psychologist in residence at Focus, hosted the online broadcast.

“They want to muzzle and stifle people like Dr. Dobson and organizations like Focus on the Family Action,” he said. “Their goal is to silence the folks who keep you updated on what your elected officials are up to.”

Perkins put out the call to action: “I want to encourage people to contact their congressmen, in particular, contact the members of the House Judiciary Committee. The message is very simple: Lobby reform without attacking the grassroots.”

Not on my Soapbox, but.....

One way to get Pastor Ed on his soapbox is for someone to question whether or not the Founding Fathers were Christian or not. Most of the time the distractors on this subject call the Founders the term Deist.

One of the founders who in truth was actually closer to a Deist than nearly all the others was Benjamin Franklin. However, when you see quotes like this, I surely believe he was a believer in the power of God!

Sometimes it is good to share these at a time when my chain hasn't been yanked and I'm up on my soapbox proclaiming the Truth!

The Patriot Post
Founders' Quote Daily

"And have we now forgotten that powerful Friend? or do we imagine we no longer need its assistance?

I have lived, Sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this Truth, that God governs in the Affairs of Men.

And if a Sparrow cannot fall to the Ground without his Notice, is it probable
that an Empire can rise without his Aid?"

-- Benjamin Franklin (Motion for Prayers in the Constitutional
Convention, 28 June 1787)

Don't Tell Me It Doesn't Matter!

I have been very busy with numerous thing on my agenda in the last two days. I could make several posts with the things going on,  but I want to share a story that happened at one of my "stops" this evening.

One of the many "hats" I wear is that I'm a Chaplain at a satellite campus of a Christian University. I looked up a woman I met earlier this month when she asked me to pray for her son who would be leaving for Iraq on May 6th.

Tonight I wanted to look her up to give her information on an Adopt-a-Troop program I am affiliated with.

I know I've hesitated from promoting certain things I support on here, but since I've broken my own rules several times, I will give you the information on this program at the end of the post.

Here is what I want everyone to hear. This lady's son leaves for Iraq one week from this coming Sunday and she is scared to death. She said all you hear about is people dying. After trying to tell her there was a lot of good things that happen in Iraq (not much consolation for someone who is sending her son to fight for his country), she then said this. The only other thing I hear about is them wanting to impeach the Vice-President and cut off funds to our troops. I wish they knew that this makes us feel as if they don't support our troops at all.

Not that we didn't know this, but every time you read or hear the jerks say that it doesn't affect the troops when they oppose the war. Think about the "nameless" lady in Indiana, who is sending her son off to fight for our freedom, and she says "It Does Matter"!

Now the program I am talking about. I am an Ambassador for the Presidential Prayer Team. If you have been here long, you saw an article about my involvement with the PPT in a newspaper article I posted here. You can visit my personal site at PPT by going to www.pptambassador.org/153 . You can join Pastor Ed's Prayer Patriots as we pray for the President (even if you don't like him surely you think we should pray for him), all our national leaders, and for our troops.

While there, and it is not mandatory for you to join my prayer team to do this (I would really appreciate it though), please check out the Adopt-a-Troop link. There are two parts of this program. If you want to pray for a troop you can "adopt" one to pray for specifically. The other part is to list a troop you would like prayer for, and then that troop will be "adopted" and prayed for by numerous people every day!

One reason that I was hesitant to talk much about this on my blog is that one of the lamers, at MIT Central visits my site (not for about a week now), and signs up with names like "where are the WMD's", "Bush is a War Criminal" and you get the idea. It has happened over 30 times.

After listening to this mother tonight though I thought (Holy Spirit talking actually) that no matter what the cost (and believe me the Moonbat causes me problems there), I'm going to make this post to get this word out to all the great people who I blog with.

Feel free to use this to post. Please go to my website and if you like, join my team, but for sure use the Adopt-a-Troop feature.

God Bless America!

My Political Hero!!!

Those of you who know me know that Ronald Wilson Reagan is my hero! Since I've had a very busy two days, and more to do this evening, I thought this would be good --- because we know he was RIGHT!

"Here's my strategy on the Cold War:

We win, they lose."

- Ronald Reagan

"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

- Ronald Reagan

"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant: It's just that they know so much that isn't so."

- Ronald Reagan

"Of the four wars in my lifetime none came about because the U.S. was too strong."

- Ronald Reagan

"I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandment's would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress."

- Ronald Reagan

"The taxpayer: That's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination."

- Ronald Reagan

"Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other."

- Ronald Reagan

"The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program"

- Ronald Reagan

"I've laid down the law, though, to everyone from now on about anything that happens: no matter what time it is, wake me, even if it's in the middle of a Cabinet meeting."

- Ronald Reagan

"It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first."

- Ronald Reagan

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

- Ronald Reagan

"Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book."

- Ronald Reagan

"No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.
- Ronald Reagan

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under."

- Ronald Reagan
