This is my fifth consecutive post about the young man Shawn, who at age 15 decided to take his own life. This will be my final post on this topic, unless something comes up down the line that I think needs to be shared.
I want to thank you, my loyal friends who visit my blog, for all the support and kind words you have given. I too want to thank you for continuing to visit while I have posted about the same topic that didn't pertain to very many of you.
Being able to write my thoughts and feelings has helped me so much, as I struggled with the death, the grief, and the anxiety over how the funeral was going to go.
As is ALWAYS the case, God gave me what I needed and helped me have words that I believe were a comfort to the family and friends who were there. Not my words, they would have never made a difference, but God's WORDS always makes a difference!
With the funeral behind us, I feel much relief. I now would like to focus on today and if the Lord blesses me with tomorrow I want to do all that I can to help those in our community and those online here, and through my other online ministry efforts, to realize that Teen Suicide is a very real thing and something that needs all of our attention!
Please listen to what young people are saying --- I mean really listen! Don't just think that they aren't serious when they tell you things. Don't freak out for no reason, but if you have or know a teen (or anyone else for that matter) who shows any signs --- please get them help. I am certainly no expert, but I do know people who know how to help. I will do my best to get people who have "warning signs" in contact with people who can help them.
As I said good-bye to Shawn's human remains today -- I told the crowd that Shawn's death won't be in vain as long as those who knew him and loved him don't let anyone else's pleas for help go unheard.
Good bye Shawn, you would have been upset today because Tony Stewart didn't win the race. That's ok though buddy. For those of us you left behind, if the Lord tarries Tony is going to win more races and I will think of you when he does!
