Is there ever going to be a time when the American people are going to be able to trust the media? I wish I could say yes, and I try to be optimistic, but it is going to take a drastic change.
Let me give you an example of the local newspaper and their Saturday Religion section. There were 6 articles on the front page of this section. Here is the topic of each of the 6.
1. Christian art presentation at a local church (good article and the page feature).
2. Conservative Judaism Seminary accepts first openly gay and lesbian applicants (Los Angeles).
3. Lutheran pastor appeals being defrocked because of same-sex relationship (Atlanta).
4. Rep. Pete Stark, D-California, publicly admits he does not believe in a supreme being (in my terms, that would mean GOD!)
5. Group that unsuccessfully sued to have 10 Commandments monument removed, seeks to put in a monument that says "You are free to worship as you please" (Fargo, ND)
6. Moral focus lost in terror fight (NAE which is same organization Dr. Dobson asked to not speak for all evangelical Christians about the global warming issue).
So if your count is the same as mine, that would be 5 out of 6 articles that shed a negative light on Christianity. I know that I could have given at least 6 articles to the paper on local Christian news that took on positive things happening.
Main stream is no better!
I noticed on the newspaper stands that headlines on most national and the larger papers was about citizens in Iraq have lost hope. Strange that many people I know get emails from people on the ground in Iraq that say just the opposite. Now remember the headlines were today and I saw one article that you had to read way into the story and it just happened to mention that the survey was done prior to the most recent success stories coming out of Baghdad!
Let me say also, that this is only 2 days after the Gathering of Eagles effort in Washington DC where our fellow veterans showed a great outpouring of TRUE PATRIOTISM, restraint, and the real power of the people! I am so proud of those who were there, and the way they conducted themselves! There should have been front page stories all over the media about this. Let me know if your paper had a front page story on GoE, and I will give them a shout out (which they would deserve).
Let me close with this --- we Reagan Conservatives can not wait for the media to get the story out. We must continue with the new momentum and get the TRUTH out via blog, email, and person to person. When we do this, and do it with massive numbers, then we will be called the Vocal Majority!
