I received this email and as a veteran but even more as a citizen of the United States of America, things like this make me sick to my stomach. If you've never had the privilege to visit DC and the memorials, then I don't know if I can explain how important these places are to our country and those of us who have served to defend the freedoms that the "Peace Marchers" have.
Several weeks ago there was a "Peace March" at the US Capital building. Numerous acts of vandalism were committed by those who were marching for peace. The Capital Police did nothing to stop them, because I am told that Speaker of the House pelosi (no caps in honor of Carnivore and his troops), gave orders for them not to stop the vandals because that was part of "free speech".
Since when is committing a crime called free speech?
To the "Gathering of Eagles" thank you for protecting our American Heritage, and I pray that just your presence is all that is needed!

Some of you may be aware that there is a "Peace March" planned for this weekend (17 March 2007) in Washington, DC. Experience with this type of demonstration has prompted a group of military veterans (A Gathering of Eagles) to also gather in the District to protect the various Memorials of military involvement in protecting our country. Those folks representing "peace" have damaged and dishonored these Memorials before . . . our veterans will be there to protect the Memorials from the peaceful protestors.

The recent political atmosphere has elevated this kind of activity from routine protest to some real hate filled rebellion against the foundational beliefs and values that make our country so great. I believe that most of us are overdue in becoming involved again in the defense of our country . . . this time the real threat is from the inside.
